During my year in New Orleans, LA with the YAV program, I will be living off of a working stipend. It costs approximately $20,000 to support a YAV during their year of service, but national volunteers are asked to raise a minimum of $3,000 ($1,500 by July 1 and $1,500 by January 1, 2017). The rest is generously funded by the Presbyterian Church (USA).

How can you support me?

  • With prayer: Be praying for the site, the volunteers, and those we will be interacting with. Also be praying for the safety, health and prosperity of each national and international YAV site (see #AboutYAV on the menu bar for more info. about the program).
  • With communication: Whether it’s subscribing to my blog (, friending me on Facebook, writing letters or setting up a Skype session, I’d love to keep you informed about the work I’m doing.
  • With financial gifts: You can give a tax-deductible contribution as a one-time gift or in installments during my year of service. If you are able, the New Orleans site requests that you send checks directly to the site rather than using the online ECO account. Please send to the address on the back page and have the checks made payable to: Presbytery of South Louisiana with “Hillary Leslie – YAV” in the memo line.

  • If you can only pay by credit/debit card, you may give online. A direct link is listed below. Please put Hillary Leslie in the comment section, as this is a New Orleans account for all participants.

-You may also write a check to New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, with YAV-Hillary Leslie in the memo line, and place it in the offering.

What does this money cover? If you’re interested in donating to my year as a volunteer, you may be wondering where your money is going!  Your donations will cover transportation, food, health coverage, housing and living costs during my year in New Orleans.

Thank you so much for your encouragement to apply for this program and your continued support as I make the move down south!
